I have a weakness its for feathers – on shoes, dresses, jewelry… and I want to wear it all. That being said, one must be very careful to not overdo it. Nobody wants to look like big bird.

The trend of feathers is not really a trend since it can be found every Winter in different variations. Finding one timeless item is a good investment that will prove itself year after year. Think dark colors instead of something bright and daring, and the combination with black leather leggings or a statement necklace is one of my favorite looks.

Here are my ideas! As you will see, most of the items tend to be more festive – just in time for the Holiday season.

P.S – Almost everything is on sale at the moment! Check Net-A-Porter and Neiman Marcus for more info.

Everything Stripes

In the last few weeks I’ve felt a need for some fresh ideas and inspiration. Only one thing came to mind – stripes. I’m discovering my love for prints, and a stripe print is one of the most versatile prints out there. When I create inspiration boards, it helps me prepare for future projects. In this case adding decorating accents to the house and preparing for my Fall wardrobe.

I browsed my usual suspects for ideas: VINCE and MILLY (wardrobe); One Kings Lane (decor); Land of Nod (again, decor.)  By creating this board, I noticed how drawn I am to a very specific color pallet: navy blue, aqua, gray, pink, black&white. The dress and the coat are going to my MUST HAVE list for fall.

I found today some beautiful navy blue outdoor pillows for our outside living space. Exactly what I needed – a little bit of inspiration to keep me going!

From the pages of “Vogue” to the wedding party

Reading the “Vogue” september issue I was inspired by feathers! I knew I had a formal wedding coming up so it was a good excuse to dress up.

It was a small section under “FLASH Talking Fashion” named “Well Plumed”. Pictures of beautiful girls wearing beautiful garments by Louis Vuitton, Christopher Kane and Erdem. Each Garment used the feathers in a different way: at the bottom of a dress, as a skirt, as a decorative accent to a shirt. I started browsing the web to find an affordable version to this trend.

I wanted a dramatic look of black, feathers and gold. As part of my closet essentials I already had the perfect bag and shoes to complete the look – a black leather clutch with tassels and a gold chain, and black patent leather pumps.  After much browsing, I found the perfect dress by “MILLY”. It was black with a skirt full of feathers and a bow at the back. I Knew it was it! Next step was to find the perfect pair of earrings. J Crew was the answer.

I planned to have my hair up in a side bun with simple make up and a deep red lip. The total look was a success! I felt amazing and received many compliments throughout the night. It was fun planning it but much more fun wearing it! Enough said, here it is:
