Casual Chic

During the Summer, I often feel like all I do is drive. Actually, when I think about it, my whole day is spent in my car. I drive to science camp and back home, to the pool and back, to the playground and back, running errands, grocery shopping and the list goes on.

So, during these lovely long summer days, I want to be as comfortable as I can while still keeping the chic factor. I know how tempting it is to just wear Lululemon athletic cloths  all day long, but I try to avoid it on days that I don’t work out.

Back in February when I was buried in snow, I bought a few pairs of J Crew shorts for summer. I needed something to cheer me up…I just knew I would wear them, all the time. I love them. I chose really bright, fun colors such as lime green and orange. They look perfect with a plain white T or a button down Denim shirt.

Here is my summer UNIFORM: a comfy T, shorts, espadrilles and a big bag to carry my entire house.

Gearing up for Spring

Spring is FINALLY here!

After months of wearing Uggs and a parka I can finally wear a jacket and accessorize with jewelry instead of cashmere scarves. The last few weeks, I have been busy cleaning up my closet, dusting all my spring flats and reorganizing my jewelry. I took a good look and came up with a list of add-on’s for this upcoming season. Then, I went shopping.

I decided to jump on the espadrille’s bandwagon and purchase a pair. I chose the Chanel black and white leather one, so it will transition to fall as well. For jewelry, I went to my favorite place: J Crew. I think that during the last two years they’ve really stepped up their game. The jewelry line is exciting, unique and affordable.

The pieces below are my go-to jewelry for this Spring/Summer season. They work well and complement every outfit from casual to dressy. They also hit the mark in terms of trends – a little bit of neon, white and boho chic.

Last but not least, fun Essie nail polish colors and my must-have L’Occitane hand cream and Smith’s Minted Rose lip balm.

My latest J Crew purchases:

I found this necklace at my nail salon. It’s by Ettika. Ettika’s designers  Ettie Rafaeli and Joey Rafaeli feed their design drive with inspirations from living the sunny Los Angeles California lifestyle.

Essie colors: “russian roulette”, “too too hot”, “boat house” and “orange, it’s obvious!”. Also, after this winter I’m using “grow stronger” base and “no chips ahead” top coat

Lovely pretty things

Spring is nowhere to be found. I know…I said it already, but seriously, it’s been two weeks and it’s still snowing. So, its time to talk about how I’m getting my girls (Carmel 4 and Ella 2) ready for Spring/Summer.

I like to take advantage of preview sales as I prepare for the upcoming season. I find that its an easy and affordable way to start building the girls wardrobe, especially since they are growing so fast I can’t use their clothes and shoes from last year.  When there is a promotion or a sale going on I’ll buy whatever is on sale. By doing so, I usually have everything I need by mid-April.  I think that because we are experiencing such a cold, long winter people are not buying Spring stuff, so there are a lot more sales going on.

I have my favorite brands that I like to shop for my girls, such as: Mini Boden, Tea Collection, CREWCUTS, ZARA KIDS and Baby Gap. I have been buying cloths from these brands for years, I’m happy with the price range, the design, the quality and how it looks after a day at school and 10 loads in the washer.  It is very important to me that my girls will have fun, colorful and comfortable cloths.

So, what do we have here?

11 Things that have me excited about Spring

I am back home in snowy Michigan after 4 weeks in the warm weather of Tel Aviv. Unfortunately, Spring is nowhere to be found. So, in order to cheer myself up, I compiled a list of 11 things that have me excited about Spring. Things that make me think of beautiful Spring days, fresh flowers and sandals, going to the Farmer’s Market and cooking fresh picked vegetables, planting my garden again so that we’ll have an abundance of flowers with bursting colors.

I also started working on my Spring/Summer wardrobe, or as my husband calls it “who buys bathing suits in February?!”, but that is a subject for a different post…

Winter Additions

By now, Winter is in full throttle, and it’s time to wrap up this season’s shopping. Now before I start working on my Spring/Summer wardrobe, I want to share with you the latest additions to my closet. Unlike at the beginning of the season when I search and shop from my “Must Have” list, these buys are a bit more random – if I like it, I buy it!

All of the items below have become my favorites, go-to items during these cold winter months. They are comfy, timeless and fun. I wear them day and night, dress them up and down. All of them were great buys.

What are your favorite items for winter?

From the pages of “Vogue” to the wedding party

Reading the “Vogue” september issue I was inspired by feathers! I knew I had a formal wedding coming up so it was a good excuse to dress up.

It was a small section under “FLASH Talking Fashion” named “Well Plumed”. Pictures of beautiful girls wearing beautiful garments by Louis Vuitton, Christopher Kane and Erdem. Each Garment used the feathers in a different way: at the bottom of a dress, as a skirt, as a decorative accent to a shirt. I started browsing the web to find an affordable version to this trend.

I wanted a dramatic look of black, feathers and gold. As part of my closet essentials I already had the perfect bag and shoes to complete the look – a black leather clutch with tassels and a gold chain, and black patent leather pumps.  After much browsing, I found the perfect dress by “MILLY”. It was black with a skirt full of feathers and a bow at the back. I Knew it was it! Next step was to find the perfect pair of earrings. J Crew was the answer.

I planned to have my hair up in a side bun with simple make up and a deep red lip. The total look was a success! I felt amazing and received many compliments throughout the night. It was fun planning it but much more fun wearing it! Enough said, here it is:

Bag by “Gucci” and earrings by “J Crew”

My fall “must have” list

Every year in August I start to plan my fall wardrobe. The reason I start this post with that declaration is because I am not a random shopper.

I buy all the fashion magazines, I surf the web and I comprise a “must have” list of fall essentials. After I have my list, I start browsing the stores. I do a lot of shopping online, because of my geographic location (Michigan is NOT New York. That being said there are a few good boutiques, but that is a subject for a different post ).

At that point I usually make my husband REALLY nervous, because at any given moment I will have at least ten web pages open with clothes, shoes and accessories…

When I choose my must have’s I focus on clothes and accessories that will complement my existing wardrobe. If it’s a trend that I think will be a one-season-kind-of-trend (like: neon, camouflage, military)  than I buy one item and I try to keep it on the lower part of the budget.

so, here it is:

A military jacket by “Hartford”:

An A-line rain coat by “Burberry Brit”:

Vintage wash dark blue jeans by “J Brand” with a blush color silk blouse by “Equipment” and a “J Crew” necklace:

Navy blue cashmere sweater by “J crew”, Animal print sweater by “Rebecca Taylor” and animal print slippers by “Prada”:
