Grayish

Gray is definitely one of my favorite colors. No matter the occasion or the season Gray is always in. Now that I’m expecting baby no.3  I’m desperate to incorporate my favorite cloths with my growing bump.

This is a perfect example: some of my favorite pieces pair well with new items suitable for a bump. As always, I incorporate the main stream with the high end, and Zara is my go-to store to do it. The vest and the sweater dress are in stores now and are perfect for Fall/Winter.

These photos were taken just a few weeks ago, now it’s all about snow, snow and some more snow.

Winter Essentials

I don’t like the cold weather, I don’t like the rain and I REALLY don’t like the snow. I rather be basking in 79 degrees all year long. The only thing I do love in those cold Winter months are the accessories. So many different coats, hats, ear muffs, scarves and gloves.  Every day is an adventure full of texture and warm textile.

Here are my ideas for the upcoming Winter months in black, gray/neutral and blue

Stay warm and cozy because the polar vortex is on the horizon…

A Drink to Die for

Halloween is tomorrow so blogs and magazines are all about DIY crafts. I am not a crafty person, so I chose to do Halloween with an adult twist. Obviously, i turned to my partner in crime Kate (who by the way takes most of the photos for my blog). Last year at our book club’s holiday party she served us a cocktail to die for. Seriously, I was quite hung over the next day after two glasses. This is a slightly different version, but still a perfect fit for Halloween. Cheers!

The James a-la Kate
4 Tbs Raspberry Stoli vodka
2 Tbs St. Germain Elderflower liquor
Half lime, Juiced
Using a cocktail shaker, mix in with ice and a splash of club soda. Shake well and serve over an icy glass.
Don’t forget to chill glasses prior to trick or treating!

The Perfect Wardrobe – Part 2

I can’t resist posting another example of one of my favorite outfits using the usual suspects. The only new item in this outfit is a pair of fabulous earrings which I purchased last April. The faux leather leggings I’m wearing are Club Monaco (this pair is 3 years old). I love them so much that I own three pairs! They are super comfortable, look amazing day or night, and look like the real deal! They cost only 149$ and not 700$ and are machine washable.

My Maje coat, the beaded tunic and Mulberry bag were purchased in Paris two years ago. They were all great buys during the after-Christmas sales. You must check out Maje: it is definitely one of my favorite brands! Their cloths are well made and add a major WOW factor to any outfit. I wear this look in the Spring and in the Fall. You can never go wrong with black!

The Perfect Wardrobe

Isn’t having a perfect wardrobe (like a closet taken from a movie set) something we all want? A beautiful glossy all white and full of designer handbags and shoes? Well, although it’s nice to have, that is not my idea of a “perfect wardrobe”.

I think that the perfect wardrobe has good quality items that you love to wear over and over again. It’s limited to clothes and shoes that work with every trend. It is curated with bullet proof looks that make me feel amazing every single time. That perfect wardrobe is not easy to build! One way to start: THINK before you buy and always edit what you have. It’s also important to try to predict if a trend is here to stay or if it is a one-in-a-season-kind-of-a-trend (like camouflage!).

The outfit below is the perfect example: the scarf is 6 years old, the shoes are 3 years old, the bag and jacket are 1 year old, and the black T underneath – I can’t even remember. The only new item are my maternity jeans purchased at H&M.

Shades of Gray

I love the first  days of September. The breeze is starting to pick up and the sun is still out, but the days are cooler and big sweaters come to mind. So, naturally, it’s time for some Fall inspiration…

I LOVE gray. There is something about that color that attracts me no matter the season or the occasion. It always looks good with every color, and the fabrics just have depths to them that makes every outfit extraordinary. Naturally, during the Fall and Winter months it seems as if I’m wearing a uniform…but, I just can’t get enough!

The items below are all fresh for Fall from my “usual suspects” and new friends that I would like to own. Take a look at the links below for where to buy.

My fall “must have” list

Every year in August I start to plan my fall wardrobe. The reason I start this post with that declaration is because I am not a random shopper.

I buy all the fashion magazines, I surf the web and I comprise a “must have” list of fall essentials. After I have my list, I start browsing the stores. I do a lot of shopping online, because of my geographic location (Michigan is NOT New York. That being said there are a few good boutiques, but that is a subject for a different post ).

At that point I usually make my husband REALLY nervous, because at any given moment I will have at least ten web pages open with clothes, shoes and accessories…

When I choose my must have’s I focus on clothes and accessories that will complement my existing wardrobe. If it’s a trend that I think will be a one-season-kind-of-trend (like: neon, camouflage, military)  than I buy one item and I try to keep it on the lower part of the budget.

so, here it is:
